Dublin based production company Fail Safe Films will begin shooting Love is a Sting this February 2014. Recently funded by RTÉ/Filmbase Funding Award 2013 Love is a Sting is written by Ben Cleary, who was also awarded for his short 'Kindred' last year.
An ambitious live action/animated film Love is a Sting tells the story of a hyper-intelligent mosquito who upon happening across a struggling children’s' book writer decides that she will try to communicate with him.
'Love is a Sting' will be directed by Vincent Gallagher (Fade Street) and produced by Richard Boland (The Note). The film will star Seán T. O'Meallaigh (The Callback Queen, Kings) in the lead role. Off the back of domestic and international success with 2011 RTÉ/Filmbase film Small Time Fail Safe Films will look to emulate if not exceed with this project. Currently specialising in the corporate market Fail Safe Films have built a strong reputation in the Irish market even attracting major acting talent to participate in their films – including Aidan Gillen and Ruth McCabe.
'Love is a Sting' is a co-production with Zink Films and will begin shooting in Stoneybatter.
