Dundalk Institute of Technology Launches New Support Programme for the Creative Industries
2013/12/12 11:20:00 :
Entitled 'Honeycomb - Creative Works', the 4.2m programme will stimulate digital content production across the Republic of Ireland's six border counties, most of Northern Ireland and the west of Scotland.
The Dundalk Institute of Technology have launched a new business support programme designed to maximise the economic potential of Ireland's growing digital content sector, IFTN has learned.

Funded by the European Union's INTERREG IVA Programme, which aims to address socioeconomic issues arising from the existence of borders, Honeycomb is led by the University of Ulster alongside the Regional Development Centre and the School of Informatics and Creative Arts at DkIT.

Speaking at the launch, DkIT President Denis Cummins acknowledged digital content production as one of the world's "most fast changing and constantly evolving sectors", and said: "Honeycomb will address the economic, educational, social and cultural needs of digital content creators to ensure that the economic environment is sufficiently supported to allow the sector to flourish."

Over the next two years, Honeycomb will deliver a range of opportunities grouped under the four specific themes of research, networking, skills development and seed funding. More information will be released in coming months, but to register interest for the Honeycomb Programme, visit www.thehoneycomb.net.
