'Star Wars' Dublin Auditions Moved to Croke Park this Sat 23rd & Sun 24th November

J.J. Abrams reveals R2D2 on the set of 'Star Wars: Episode VII'.
Dublin auditions for two major roles in ‘Star Wars: Episode VII’ have been moved to Croke Park Stadium this Sat 23rd and Sun 24th November, in a change to the original venue of Filmbase in Temple Bar due to the enormous crowds expected to attend.

The auditions will take place between 11am and 3pm, with entry via St Joseph’s Avenue gate off Conliffe Road, Dublin, from 8am onwards – and overnight camping & queuing strictly prohibited due to the extreme weather conditions.

Whereas the previous casting announcement had ambiguously referred to a major Disney movie, Ms Claire Curry of UK Casting Call has now confirmed that the auditions are indeed for ‘Star Wars’.

Women aged 17-18 years old and men 19-23 years old are being sought for the two roles - so lifelong middle-aged Star Wars fans are advised that they may be wasting their time turning up dressed like Jedi knights, lightsabers in hand.

Applicants are advised to bring along a headshot photo of themselves, but it need not be professionally taken.

The following are the two casting descriptions for anyone who missed them first time round:

Seeking: Young woman to play 17-18 Years old. Must be beautiful, smart and athletic. Open to all ethnicities (including bi- and multi-racial). Must be 16 or over.

RACHEL:
Was quite young when she lost her parents. With no other family, she was forced to make her way alone in a tough, dangerous town. Now 17 she has become street smart and strong. She is able to take care of herself using humour and guts to get by. Always a survivor, never a victim, she remains hopeful that she can move away from this harsh existence to a better life. She is always thinking of what she can do to move ahead.

Seeking:Young man to play 19-23 years old. Must be handsome, smart and athletic. Must be 18 or over.

THOMAS:

Has grown up without a father's influence. Without the model of being a man, he doesn't have the strongest sense of himself. Despite this, he is smart, capable and shows courage when it is needed. He can appreciate the absurdities in life and understands you can't take life too seriously.

In parallel with the Dublin event, a London casting call is set to take place in Twickenham Stadium this weekend - with further information available on Twitter at @UKOpenCall

J.J. Abrams - who recently helmed the ‘Star Trek’ reboot and its sequel ‘Star Trek Into Darkness’ – will direct the first instalment in the new ‘Star Wars’ trilogy, which follows Disney’s purchase last year of Lucasfilm for $4 billion.

Abrams is currently engaged in rewrites on the original script, penned by Michael Arndt (‘Toy Story 3, 'Little Miss Sunshine'), with ‘The Empire Strikes Back’ screenwriter Lawrence Kasdan.

Production will mainly be based at London’s Pinewood Studios, with one character already confirmed to return in the form of R2D2.

Luke, Leia and Han are also expected to sign on for the follow-up to 'Return of The Jedi', with talks currently underway with Mark Hamill, Carrie Fisher and Harrison Ford.
