Screen Training Ireland Announce VFX: Script to Screen Programme

Screen Training Ireland announce the second module of the VFX: Script to Screen Programme.

Tutors include VFX Supervisor Peter Hjorth, Nymphomaniac, Melancholia and Antichrist, Jeppe N. Christensen VFX Supervisor, A Royal Affair and Ragnarok; Brian Kirk, Director, Game of Thrones, Boardwalk Empire and Dexter; VFX Supervisor Ed Bruce, Last Days on Mars, Ripper Street and Game of Thrones; and Laura Livingstone VFX Producer with Zoic Studios in LA.

Screen Training Ireland part of the Irish Film Board with the support of the MEDIA programme of the European Union, will deliver module 2 of the VFX: Scrip to Screen programme in Dublin from the 21st – 23rd of November 2013.

Module 2 specifically focuses on how VFX impacts production, and the interaction between director, DOP, and VFX Supervisor. The module will explore certain VFX process on set, including green screen, crowd duplication, set extension and digital matte painting.

The location VFX shoot on module 2 will be helmed by Irish director, Brian Kirk and VFX supervisor Ed Bruce. Brian Kirk’s Middletown was nominated for 9 IFTA awards and his second feature Passengers will star Keanu Reeves and Rachel McAdams. Brian’s US television credits include Game of Thrones, Boardwalk Empire, Luck and Dexter. In the UK he has directed Great Expectations starring Ray Winstone and Gillian Anderson; Luther starring Idris Elba; and My Boy Jack starring Daniel Radcliffe.

As well as a practical VFX shoot, the module will include seminars and workshops, as well as one-to-one sessions with VFX supervisors. VFX: Script to Screen provides producers, directors and key creatives from Europe with an overview of visual effects from development to post-production as well as providing access to the highest level of international visual effects talent.

Screen Training Ireland as the training arm of the Irish Film Board provides on-going training for the screen sectors through the delivery of world class training initiatives.

VFX: Script to Screen is delivered by Screen Training Ireland and Supported by the MEDIA Programme of the European Union and the Irish Film Board.
