Irish co-production 'Run and Jump' has been picked up for US distribution by Sundance Selects, a subsidiary of AMC, the network behind 'The Walking Dead' and 'Breaking Bad'.
Premiering at Tribeca Film Festival last year, 'Run and Jump' has met success on the festival circuit with wins at Galway Film Fleadh and the Valladolid International Film Festival, screening at San Paolo Film Festival and securing a Brazilian distribution deal with Mostra Internacional De Cinema.
News of the US distribution deal comes after the film was screened at the 2013 American Film Market Conference last week, with Global Screen handling international sales.
Directed by Steph Green from a script co-written with Ailbhe Keogan, 'Run and Jump' stars Will Forte ('30 Rock'), Maxine Peake ('Shameless') and Edward MacLiam ('Holby City'), and tells the unconventional love story of a happy-go-lucky Irish family and the American neuroscientist who comes to stay with them after the husband suffers a stroke.
The award-winning film marks Green's first foray into feature films, having received an Oscar nomination for her short 'New Boy' in 2007.
Just last January, Irish mountaineering documentary 'The Summit' was also picked up for US distribution by Sundance Selects which, as a subsidiary of IFC, is owned by AMC, the network behind 'The Walking Dead' and 'Breaking Bad'.
Produced by Samson Films and Bavaria Pictures, 'Run and Jump' was financed by the Irish Film Board, Section 481, Broadcasting Authority of Ireland, RTE, Eurimages, FilmFernsehfondsBayern FFF, DeutscherFilmforderfonds DFFF, Senator Film Munchen, Cinepost and Bavaria Film.
