The Royal Television Society (RTS) Craft & Design Awards, taking place in London this 18th November, count five Irish nominees among those shortlisted, for their work on productions including 'The Fall' and 'Ripper Street'.
Irish colourist Aidan Farrell has received two nominations for ‘Utopia’ series one on Channel 4 and ‘The White Queen’ on BBC One – in the category of Effects (Picture Enhancement).
Mr Farrell won an Emmy award in 2001 for ‘Ultimate Guide: The Human Body’ and also counts among his credits ‘Downton Abbey’, ‘The Village’ and ‘Wallander’.
Belfast serial killer drama ‘The Fall’ received two nominations in the categories of Make-Up Design and Original Score for hair & make-up designer Pamela Smyth ('Game of Thrones') and composer David Holmes ('Good Vibrations') respectively.
Dublin production designer Mark Geraghty (‘Calvary’, ‘Death of a Superhero’) is nominated for his work on ‘Ripper Street’ in transforming Dublin into the streets of Whitechapel in Victorian London.
Finally, Bafta-winning film editor Sean Mackenzie - whose recent interview with IFTN can be found here - is nominated for Tape & Film Editing (Documentary & Factual) for ‘How To Get To Heaven With The Hutterites’, a BBC documentary about an isolated Christian community.
The winners of the RTS Awards, chaired by Zodiak chief executive Nigel Pickard, will be announced on Monday 18th November at The Savoy, London.
