‘Love/Hate’ actress Ruth Negga, who played Rosie in the first two seasons of Stuart Carolan’s crime epic, has been cast alongside fellow Irish actor Brendan Gleeson in HBO pilot ‘The Money’.
The new drama from ‘Deadwood’ and ‘Luck’ creator David Milch revolves around Gleeson’s media mogul James Castman and the power he wields over his media empire and family.
Ms Negga was also recently cast in a recurring mystery role in Marvel’s ‘Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.’, from 'Avengers' director Joss Whedon, which has been picked by ABC for a full season and is currently airing on RTÉ Two.
The Irish actress, who won an IFTA last year for her portrayal of singer Shirley Bassey in ‘Shirley’, has recently seen her Hollywood career take off with roles in ‘World War Z’ and Steve McQueen’s ‘12 Years a Slave’.
Other high-profile actors joining ‘The Money’ include Ray Liotta (‘Goodfellas’), Nathan Lane (‘The Birdcage’), David Harewood (‘Homeland’) and Mamie Gummer (‘Side Effects’, ‘The Good Wife’).
Ms Negga’s character, Erin Foley, is described as a ‘no-nonsense’ senior news editor who reports to John Castman.
She will also soon be seen in Jimi Hendrix biopic ‘All is by My Side’, which was filmed in Dublin last year, co-produced by Subotica and part-funded by the Irish Film Board.
‘The Money’ will be executive produced by David Milch, Frank Rich, Art and John Linson (‘Sons Of Anarchy’); Eric Roth; Sarah Caplan and Justin Chadwick.
