‘The Canal’ - a psychological horror film co-produced by Dublin-based Park Films and filmed in Dublin this Summer- is now in post-production at Egg Post-Production.
Directed by Ivan Kavanagh and produced by Anne Marie Naughton, the film stars Northern Irish actress Antonia Campbell-Hughes (‘Albert Nobbs’, ‘Kelly + Victor’) and Rupert Evans (‘Hellboy’, BBC’s ‘The Village’).
Ms Campbell-Hughes was nominated for the IFTA for Best Actress last year for ‘The Other Side of Sleep’, which also received nominations for director Rebecca Daly and DoP Suzie Lavelle.
The plot for 'The Canal' follows a husband who suspects that his wife is cheating on him and begins having nightmarish visions that an evil presence has taken up residence in their house.
Ms Naughton also produced such films as 'The Fading Light' and ‘Tin Can Man’, both directed by Mr Kavanagh.
An Irish/Welsh/Dutch co-production, ‘The Canal’ was co-produced by Vaughan Sivell and executive produced by Treasure Entertainment’s Rebecca O’Flanagan and Robert Walpole.
Other crew members include director of photography Piers McGrail (Kelly + Victor, ‘Out of Here’); editor Robin Hill (‘Kill List’; ‘Sightseers’) and sound designer Patrick Drummond (‘As Good as it Gets’; ‘Boyz N the Hood’).
Bowsie Workshop, based in Dublin, were responsible for all FX make-up and special effects shots for the production.
Mr Kavanagh’s other directing credits include award-winning features ‘The Fading Light’ and ‘Tin Can Man’, both produced by Park Films.
