Jam Media - the Dublin based animation studio behind the IFTA & Bafta winning children’s series ‘Roy’ - have won top positions at the Cartoon Forum in Toulouse for their projects ‘Early Bird’ and ‘Pigsticks & Harold’.
The annual Cartoon Forum, which last year saw 800 participants from 32 countries pitch 69 animation projects, will run from 17-20th September as one of the world’s biggest platforms to sell to international animation buyers and distributors.
Based on responses of interest from broadcasters & investors, Jam Media’s two Irish-produced shows have been ranked in the top three out of the whole expo - with first place going to ‘Early Bird’ and third place to ‘Pigsticks & Harold’.
Jam Media’s CEO John Rice expressed his delight at the news, which represents a huge coup for the animation company.
’It is a huge endorsement from Cartoon Forum that our projects are recommended as No 1 and No 3. It is an extremely competitive environment and it will ensure the spotlight is firmly on our company.
‘We are extremely confident this will translate in to a number of major commissions as with previous projects, which in turn will generate huge income and create employment in Ireland,’ he said.
According to Jam Media, if both series being pitched go into production they will generate a turnover of €25m and carry the potential to create employment for over 100 people.
Apart from ‘Roy’, Jam Media are also well-known for creating such animation series as ‘Funky Fables’, ‘Baby Jake’ and ‘Tilly & Friends’.
