Broadcasting Authority of Ireland Chief Executive Michael O’Keeffe has revealed details of the BAI's special partnership with the Galway Film Fleadh, as one of the main industry supporters of the Film Fair Market - which is set to run from 11th to 13th July.
Six Irish films will screen during the Galway Film Fleadh this year which directly received BAI funding through their Broadcasting Funding Scheme - including ‘The Sea’; ‘An Léigear 1922 (The Siege 1922)’; ‘Run & Jump’; ‘An Bhean a Shúil Trasna Mheiriceá’; ‘Life’s a Breeze’; and ‘Croí Trodach’ (A Fighting Heart).
‘The Galway Film Fleadh continues to provide a unique opportunity for the film, broadcasting and creative communities to meet and discuss developments, trends and opportunities for independent production and broadcasting. We are especially pleased to see a variety of BAI projects being included in the screening programme this year,’ Mr O’Keeffe said.
One of the highlights is ‘Run & Jump’, which will screen at 9pm on Saturday night in the Town Hall theatre, with director Steph Green and the cast in attendance.
The plot follows Vanetia Casey (Maxine Peake), who struggles to get her life back to normal after her 38-year-old husband Conor (Edward MacLiam) suffers a rare stroke that changes his personality, leading her to seek the assistance of an American doctor.
