Renowned Freelance Editor and Managing Director of Dublin based House Post Production Bob Caldwell picked up his second Emmy Award this week at the 34th Annual Sports Emmy’s in New York City. Bob was part of the team for 'Outstanding Technical Team Studio - Games of the XXX Olympiad'. Speaking to IFTN following his win Bob describes his experience at London 2012 and his delight with the win.

“I was part of the NBC team based in the International Broadcast Centre working tirelessly alongside over 3,000 NBC professionals. I edited daily features presented by Jimmy Roberts and produced by Laurie White for the daytime show which pumped out over 12 hours daily of live programming throughout the Olympics. This was highly stylised, polished programming and for me a pleasure to work on,” said Caldwell.

Bob remembers London 2012 with personal pride but is quick to reference the professionalism of NBC and the team he worked alongside throughout the summer: “This is not an individual Emmy. This is a team Emmy of which I was very honoured to be a part of”.

With the eyes of the world descending on London 2012 and 24/7 coverage being broadcast globally by NBC you would think that the nerves would set in. Luckily, that was never the case for Bob: “We were working in the most technologically advanced broadcasting facility in the world capturing every single shot of the Olympics…incredible systems providing incredible images”.

IFTA and BAFTA winning Caldwell describes his delights with his second Emmy award, his first being for 'Outstanding Technical Team - Swimming Venue' at the Beijing Olympics: “It’s an honour and privilege to be a part of the Olympic 2012 experience and to be a part of a team that are multi award winning around the world was fantastic”. And as for where it ranks in his career achievements: “Well, let’s just say that to have two Emmy’s sitting in my office feels pretty good”.

Bob continues to edit at an international level with NBC America and has a very busy schedule ahead which includes the PGA Tour in America, The US Open, The US Women’s Open as well as RTE’s Savage Eye. House Post Production is currently operating from Stephen’s Place in Dublin’s city centre. The state of art facility offers four edit suites, which run AVID Symphony 6 or FCP, and supplies in-house graphics and Avatar Audio mixing. There are also rooms available to rent, with an editor or for dry hire.
