Gary Shore - commercials director and film graduate of Galway/Mayo Institute of Technology and the National Film School, IADT- will shoot Universal Picture’s new ‘Dracula’ origin film in Belfast, with Hollywood actor Luke Evans signed on to play the legendary vampire.
Mr Shore will be making his directorial debut with the Hollywood blockbuster and has established a reputation in recent years as a prolific commercials director for clients including Adidas, Gatorade, Uggs, Sprite and Qoros.
Luke Evans - who will appear as Bard the Bowman in ‘The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug’ this December – will star as a young prince who, when the lives of his wife and child are threatened, risks his soul to save them and becomes the first vampire.
Previously entitled ‘Dracula Year Zero’, the film will be produced by Michael De Luca, executive produced by Alissa Phillips, and written by Matt Sazama and Burk Sharpless.
Gary Shore first attracted Hollywood attention with the trailer for his ‘Cup of Tears’ feature, which was in development with Universal and Working Title Films.
This film is not to be confused with a new TV adaptation of Dracula - starring Johnathan Rhys Meyers in the title role - which will premiere on Sky Living HD in the Autumn.
Universal's ‘Dracula’, directed by Gary Shore, is currently in pre-production and will start shooting at locations in Belfast later this year.
