03 Apr 2013 : By Claire Murrihy
Out There
Dunsany Productions’ post apocalyptic horror short film, ‘Out There’, received the best short film award at the Movie Days Horror Convention in Dortmund Germany during the weekend of the 22nd of March.

Among the guests who attended were Robert Englund (Nightmare on Elm Street), WWF icon, Rowdey Roddy Piper and Caroline Williams (Hatchet 3).

‘Out There’ stars Conor Marren (True-D) and Emma Eliza Regan (The Shadows, Darkness on the Edge of Town, Love Eternal). The film follows Rob (Marren), who wakes up deep in the woods after receiving a head wound. He is tortured by violent flash backs of his girlfriend Jane (Regan) and the events leading to him being alone in the woods. Rob wanders through the deserted forests trying to find help, but soon realizes that the beautiful still countryside is far more dangerous then he could ever have imagined.

‘Out There’ was written, produced, edited and directed by award winning director Randal Plunkett (Walt, Prey, Kiss Kiss).

Other crew members on ‘Out There’ include Oliver Plunkett, who devised the original concept, co-producer Kevin Fisher, Italian cinematographer Stefano Battarola, Russian steadi-cam operator Philip Morosov and Irish focus-puller Blaine Rennicks. Irish veteran cinematographer Cainneach Mac Eoin assisted with camera operation while the score was written by award-winning composer Darius McGann.

The film is scheduled to play the Imagine Film Festival in Amsterdam between the 8th and 17th of April. The film will also be shown as part of this year’s program at the LIT Film Festival, which takes between the 11th and 13th of April, and has also been nominated for 5 awards including Best Director.

It is set to premiere in the US on the 20th of April for this year's Panic Fest in Kansas, where it has been nominated for a Hatchet award.

The film will continue on to play the Fright Night Festival in Kentucky, which is one of the largest genre festivals in America.
