Irish/American actor John Finn will star in TG4 series ‘An Bronntanas’, which is due to begin filming in Connemara next Monday.
Finn will play the part of Irish-speaking sergeant Seán Óg in the five-part thriller.
Finn is well known to regular TG4 viewers for his role as Lt John Stillman in popular crime drama ‘Cold Case’, which is regularly shown on the Irish language channel. He has also appeared in TV series such as ‘Homeland’ and ‘Suits’, and feature films ‘Catch Me If You Can’, ‘The Hunted’, ‘Glory’, ‘The Pelican Brief’ and ‘Blown Away’.
‘An Bronntanas’ is a co-production between ROSG and De facto Films. The series will be directed by Tom Collins (Kings) and produced by Ciarán Ó Cofaigh and Tom Collins.
The series is set against the backdrop of a local independent lifeboat crew working off the coast of Connemara. When the rescue team discovers millions of euros worth of drugs on board a fishing boat, they must decide what moral path to choose.
Speaking on Finn’s involvement with Ó Cofaigh said: “We are all enthused by the involvement of John Finn who is a well known Irish language enthusiast. We believe that John’s involvement will not only raise the profile of the series but also add to the international brand of the Irish language”.
‘An Bronntanas’ is funded by TG4, The BAI, Bord Scannán na hÉireann and Northern Ireland Screen/ Irish Language Broadcast Fund and will be screened on TG4 in 2014.
