The Celtic Media Festival has announced its shortlist for 2013, with 17 Irish film and TV projects among the nominees.
Irish language projects ‘Scéal na Gaeilge’, ‘Rás Tailteann - Rothai an tSaoil’, ‘Jump Boys’, ‘John Doherty - Ar Leirg na Gaoithe’, ‘Steip le Tura’ and ‘Ó Tholg go Tolg’, have all been nominated across Factual, Sport, Arts, Drama and Young People categories.
IFTA-nominated drama ‘Saving the Titanic’ has been shortlisted in the Feature Length Drama category, against projects from Cornwall and Wales.

Tile Films co-produced on the drama, which was broadcast on RTÉ last year. Irish actor Liam Cunningham narrated.
Stirling Film and TV Productions, based in Belfast, has been shortlisted in the Drama Series category with ‘6 Degrees’, a show which follows six students as they crash through their first term at university in Belfast.
In the Sports category, Irish projects ‘Jump Boys’; a horse racing documentary which follows top jockeys Ruby Walsh, Barry Geraghty and Davy Russell as they compete at various different tournaments; and ‘Rás Tailteann - Rothai an tSaoil’; a cycling documentary featuring first-hand accounts from riders and organisers, will go head to head, while shortlisted for Arts awards are three Irish projects; ‘John Doherty - Ar Leirg na Gaoithe’, ‘Steip le Tura’ and ‘The Undertones - Here Comes The Summer’.
The Celtic Media Festival takes place in Swansea this year from April 24-26. The festival’s aim is to promote the languages and cultures of the Celtic countries on screen and in broadcasting.

Last year’s festival took place in Derry in Northern Ireland, and saw the announcement of a joint funding initiative between RTÉ, BBC Northern Ireland and BBC Scotland, the first of its kind for the three broadcasters.
