A fifth season of ‘Dragons’ Den Ireland’ has entered post-production at Screen Scene in Dublin, with a TX date scheduled for March.
The Irish version of the popular format, which has gone global since the original version aired in Japan in 2001, has been airing on RTÉ One since 2009.
This year, the lineup of investors sees original Dragon Gavin Duffy joined by returning Dragon Sean O’Sullivan, and newcomers Ramona Nicholas, Peter Casey and Barry O’Sullivan.
The new investors replace Bobby Kerr, Niall O’Sullivan and Norah Casey, who recently announced her decision to leave the show due to her other media commitments. The Harmonia Publishing boss recently began a stint as a co-presenter on new RTÉ afternoon show ‘Today’, alongside Bláthnaid Ní Chofhaigh, as well as a radio slot on Newstalk FM.
‘Dragons’ Den Ireland’ began filming last December, and is currently posting at Screen Scene, with Paul Mullen and Joe McElwaine editing. Simon Thornton is the online editor for Screen Scene, with Mark Fitzpatrick handling the sound mix. John O’Riordan is supplying the graphics, and Elish Sheridan is the post supervisor.
Larry Bass of Screentime ShinAwil bought the ‘Dragons’ Den’ format almost five years ago, with the first Irish series airing in 2009. The format has been sold all over the world, with all international formats following the UK version, which first broadcast in 2005.
Sony Pictures holds the rights to the format, with the show currently airing in over 20 different territories.
The fifth series of ‘Dragons’ Den Ireland’ will air on RTÉ One on March 3.
