New RTÉ young persons’ programme ‘In Your Shoes’ has entered pre-production in Ireland.
The six-part series, which will begin filming in Ireland and a secret overseas location in the new year, will follow eight transition year students – four able-bodied and four with disabilities – on a life-changing and fun journey to an exotic mystery location.
The series will follow the teens as they undertake a number of “exciting challenges”, where they will be trained and fully supervised by a team of experts.
Alan Gilsenan will direct the series, with Martin Mahon producing for Yellow Asylum Films.
Pauline MacNamara commissioned the series for RTÉ Two’s young persons’ programming.
The production team and RTÉ is currently calling on TY students, aged 16 or over, to submit a five minute video making the case for why they should be chosen to participate in the series. The videos should be uploaded to www.rte.ie/trte/inyourshoes together with a completed application form and photo.
The call for entries for the new series comes at the same time RTÉ announced Sheila de Courcy has been appointed cross-divisional head of children’s content at the station.
