Digital Cinema World Coming Together For UK Conference In February

David Hancock, George Eyles and Richard Welsh will all give addresses at the Digital Cinema Conference next year
Prominent figures in the digital cinema market are set to address Irish and UK filmmakers at the Digital Cinema Conference, which takes place in London in February.

David Hancock, director and head of film and cinema at IHS Screen Digest, will give an overview of digital and 3D deployment as well as present a talk on alternative content at the conference, which is aimed at the Irish and UK markets.

Steve Perrin, CEO of the Digital Funding Partnership, will address the crowd on a technical update, while George Eyles, head of worldwide business development and strategic planning at Digital Cinema at Technicolor, will be on hand to moderate a discussion on cost efficiencies with digital.

The conference, hosted by Digital Cinema Solutions, will tackle a number of issues facing the digital filmmaking industry.

The main topics up for discussion at the one-day event are: overviews of the current market; technical issues; cost efficiencies; alternative content; reaching the audience and case studies.

Steve Perrin will also be honoured with the Recognition Award for his contribution to digital cinema. Prior to his position at the Digital Funding Partnership, Perrin was a former director of marketing at Warner Bros Distributors UK and deputy head of distribution and exhibition at the UK Film Council. He will receive his award in the final session of the conference.

The Digital Cinema Conference will take place in London on Thursday, February 7. Derek Cownty, director of Digital Cinema Solutions, said: “We are very excited about this conference – it will give suppliers, exhibitors and content providers a unique chance to come together for one day to explore, discuss and learn about some of the technical challenges and innovations that are central to the cinema industry today and looking ahead to the future.”
