The OB8, a 30 camera high definition and 3D-ready facility, is owned by the Arnold Family, who are the founders of television mobiles company, TVM.
The truck unit is over 800 sq ft and has already been used to live broadcast last summer’s Isle of Wright Festival in both HD and 3D on Sky Arts 1.
The Arnold Family officially launched the OB truck along with their new 13,000 sq ft premises in Cork last week.
The OB truck was built by UK-based bespoke engineering facilities ASGB, with Bob Hanks the project engineer. Hanks said the OB8 is “the largest square footage OB truck when expanded that ASGB have built in Europe”.
It was fitted out in-house by TVM’s staff in just five weeks.
TVM’s new facilities are based in Bartlemy Village in east Cork. The company was established in 1986 by Bart and Helen Arnold, and has since built up a reputation as a leading outside broadcasting facilities company.
