Donogh Diamond has been appointed to the position of editor of ‘Prime Time’. He will report to the managing editor of current affairs, David Nally.
Nally said of his appointment: “Donogh Diamond is one of the most experienced television reporters in Ireland and has been a major and highly-respected part of ‘Prime Time’s’ journalism team for 15 years.
“He takes over editorial responsibility for the programme at a very important and exciting time and will make a major contribution to the future of RTÉ current affairs.
Diamond said: "I'm delighted and privileged to be appointed editor of the country's flagship TV current affairs programme. I look forward to leading a team which aims to keep the highest-quality journalism at the very core of the RTÉ schedule."
Diamond has been a presenter/reporter on ‘Prime Time’ since 1997. He joined RTÉ in 1995 as a presenter/reporter on the business and economy programme ‘Marketplace’, before moving to its successor, ‘Current Account’, the following year.
Before joining RTÉ, he was a staff reporter in the Irish Press Group for five years.
Diamond is a graduate of University College Dublin.
