Emmy-nominated ‘Wallace & Gromit’ animator Merlin Crossingham is to give a lecture at the National Film School in IADT Dun Laoghaire tomorrow as part of the school’s ongoing lecture series.
Held in association with the Blackrock Animation Festival, Crossingham will tomorrow (October 12) speak about his career with world-renowned UK animation company Aardman, where he works as a creative director.
Crossingham has been with the ‘Wallace & Gromit’ creators since 1995 after graduating in film and photography from the Newport Film School.
He initially worked on TV commercials and shorts, before taking the role of key animator on the 2000 feature film ‘Chicken Run’ and second unit director on 2005’s ‘Wallace & Gromit: Curse of The Were Rabbit’.
Crossingham also co-directed the ‘Creature Comforts America’ series for CBS, for which he gained a Primetime Emmy nomination.
Since then, he has focused on directing ‘Wallace & Gromit’ at Aardman, and, in 2009, was promoted to the role of creative director for the TV series ‘Wallace and Gromit’s World of Invention’.
This is the first event in the NFS Lecture Series for 2012/2013, a series which has been held in association with the Irish Film Board since 2004.
Over the past eight years, the NFS has hosted nearly 50 participants, including Oliver Stone, Alan Parker, Mike Leigh, Stephen Frears, John Sayles, Neil Jordan and Jim Sheridan.
Merlin Crossingham will deliver his lecture in room C028 at the National Film School in IADT Dun Laoghaire at 3pm tomorrow (October 12).
