Members of the public are being encouraged to apply to become board members of the Irish Film Board following a Government advertisement.
Jimmy Deenihan, Minister for Arts, Heritage and the Gaeltacht, is seeking applications from “suitably qualified and experienced persons” to fill future vacancies for non-executive positions on the board of the IFB.
An advertisement seeking applications has been published on the website of the Department of Arts, Heritage and the Gaeltacht and can be viewed here.
Encouraging members of the public to apply for positions on the board, Minister Deenihan said: “Over the past 12 months up to 60 films, television series and documentaries have been made in Ireland.
“I want to see the film sector playing a strong role in Ireland's economic recovery and would encourage candidates who believe that they are qualified for membership of the Irish Film Board to apply for consideration for positions on the board that may arise in the future.”
Those interested should state their area of expertise, relevant experience and qualifications, and also set out clearly any actual or potential conflicts of interest that might arise should they be appointed to the board.
The Minister has said that he may also appoint persons to the board who do not apply to this current callout.
The deadline for applications is October 26. Those interested should contact Eileen O'Leary at eileen.oleary@ahg.gov.ie or in writing to Eileen O'Leary, Department of Arts, Heritage and Gaeltacht, New Road, Killarney, Co Kerry.
