Michael Fassbender has begun filming on Terrence Malick’s latest feature with Ryan Gosling, Christian Bale and Cate Blanchett, IFTN can confirm.
The Irish actor was spotted filming a scene with Gosling over the weekend, leading to speculation that the Kerry-native had landed a role in the untitled film.
Fassbender had not been announced in the original cast line-up but his participation was confirmed to IFTN this morning (October 8).
Malick’s latest film, formerly known as ‘Lawless’, follows two love triangles which intersect throughout the story, and is set around the music scene in Austin.
‘Girl with the Dragon Tattoo’ star Rooney Mara also stars with Haley Bennett (Marley & Me), Isabel Lucas (Home and Away) and Oscar-winner Natalie Portman (Black Swan), who Fassbender is rumoured to be starring alongside in western ‘Jane Got a Gun’.
IFTN can also confirm that Fassbender has wrapped filming on Ridley Scott’s ‘The Counselor’ which filmed in London. The pair previously worked together on ‘Prometheus’.
Fassbender will next be seen in Steve McQueen’s ‘Twelve Years a Slave’ which is due for a 2013 release, and also stars Irish actress Ruth Negga and Brad Pitt.
He is also scheduled to begin filming Lenny Abrahamson's 'Frank' in Ireland this December.
