Irish production company Motive is to begin production today (September 20) on a one-off documentary special for RTÉ on Pediatric Palliative Care.
The Dublin-based company has been commissioned by RTÉ Factual to make the 52-minute documentary which will be made under the working title ‘Life In The Days’.
The documentary will look at the provision of hospice care for babies and young children living with life limiting conditions in Ireland.
IFTA-winning television director Gary Keane (The Writing In The Sky) will direct the documentary, which will be produced by Motive’s Jamie D’Alton (Pilgrims).
Mairead Tucker (The Nurse) is the assistant producer, with Motive’s Anne McLoughlin executive producing.
The shoot, which will take place on location around the country, will continue until mid-January and will be shot on the RED Epiccamera.
Speaking to IFTN, producer Jamie D’Alton said the doc on pediatric palliative care will chart the journey of four or five different families.
Post-production on ‘Life In The Days’ (working title) will be carried out by Piranha Bar in January and February with Paul Giles editing. Motive expects the documentary to TX in a Sunday night slot on RTÉ One in February.
A busy production house, Motive are currently mid-way through production on three-part documentary series ‘The Estate’ for TV3. They have also just completed production on sports documentaries ‘The Biggest Game in Town’, about Irish poker players; ‘Batmen’, about the history of cricket in Ireland; and ‘When the Game Was Ours’, exploring basketball in Ireland in the 1980s.
