RTÉ has signed a deal with Netflix that will see a number of its shows made available on the video-on-demand service in the UK and Ireland.
From this Saturday (September 15) RTÉ shows such as ‘The Clinic’, ‘Killinaskully’, ‘Trivia’, and ‘Mattie’ will be available for Netflix members in Ireland and the UK. The hit series, ‘Raw’, will also be made available to Netflix subscribers in Ireland.
The deal follows Netflix’s licensing agreement with Element Pictures Distribution to add more than 20 Irish films to its Irish film and TV content.
Those films include Lenny Abrahamson’s ‘Garage’ and Oliver Hirschbiegel’s ‘Five Minutes of Heaven’ starring Liam Neeson and James Nesbitt.
Aisling McCabe, director of content and strategy with RTÉ Digital, said the move would help RTÉ ensure their programmes could be viewed “everywhere and anywhere”.
Recently Netflix announced that it reached the one million-member milestone in Ireland and the UK within seven months, faster than any other territory it has launched.
