Irish director Lenny Abrahamson’s third feature ‘What Richard Did’ has been snapped up by London-based sales company Protagonist Pictures.

Protagonist will handle sales for the Irish-made feature in all territories except the UK and Ireland, which will be handled by Dublin's Element Pictures Distribution.

As previously reported on IFTN, ‘What Richard Did’ will receive its world premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival next month. Its European premiere will follow at the IFI in Dublin on September 30.

Adapted from Kevin Power’s book ‘Bad Day in Blackrock’ by Malcolm Campbell , ‘What Richard Did’ follows Dublin schoolboy Richard Karlsen, a privileged teenager whose life changes in one furious, reckless moment.

The feature was produced by Dublin’s Element Pictures with Ed Guiney producing and Andrew Lowe executive producing. It stars young Irish actors Jack Reynor, Sam Keeley (The Other Side Of Sleep) and Roisin Murphy as well as Lorraine Pilkington (Human Traffic) and Lars Mikkelsen (The Killing). The feature was backed by the Irish Film Board.

‘What Richard Did’ will be released in Ireland on October 6.
