Sony Launches New Range Of Projectors
11 Jul 2012 :
The Sony VPL-DX140 is part of the VPL-D100 series
Sony has unveiled two new series of projectors which are aimed at the corporate and education markets, and incorporate features that cut energy consumption and extend lifetime.

The new models include the VPL-D100 series, designed specifically for the SMB and corporate markets, and the VPL-E200 series, designed with features specific to the education market.

Both contain eco-friendly features, as well as an auto lamp dimming function, which enables the projector to detect if it is left on with a static signal being fed. When a static signal is detected, the lamp can be dimmed to 30 per cent of the original brightness at certain time intervals set by the user. When a new signal is sent, the projector returns to full brightness instantly.

The projector also includes a new auto brightness adjustment function, designed to avoid unnecessary power consumption. This means the brightness of the lamp’s output is automatically adjusted depending on the brightness of the projected image.

In addition, by applying a new fine-tuned cooling system to reduce clouding of the bulb, Sony has extended the lamp life to approximately 7,000 hours, depending on the lamp mode selected.

The new models also offer 12-bit 3D digital gamma correction for images with less noise and smoother gradation. The E200 Series models all have standard features including a 16W high-wattage speaker, 2xRGB, HDMI, S-Video, RS-232C, RJ-45, microphone input and optional wireless capabilities.

Remote control of multiple projectors can be performed via a LAN (wired) network. Users can also project images wirelessly over a wired LAN or a wireless network, without the need for signal cables. For either application, an optional IFU-WLM3 wireless USB dongle for wireless connection is required.

Robert Meakin, business and education product manager at Sony Professional Solutions Europe said of the new products: “The new E and D Series projectors are feature-rich, reliable all-rounders that can be used in almost any business or education environment. We’ve designed them with a focus on eco-friendliness at the forefront and believe they will help organisations operate efficiently and effectively day-to-day, in the knowledge they’re not using energy-hungry kit.”

The new models in the VPL-D100 series and VPL-E200 series are all planned to be available by mid-summer 2012.
