The Lir Academy of Dramatic Art is seeking proposals for a new production support initiative designed to help theatre professionals stage productions at their city centre theatre in partnership with the Academy’s new Professional Diploma in Stage Management and Technical Theatre, which begins this September.

The initiative offers professional theatre makers free access to The Lir's performance spaces for tech, previews and public performances; free access to workshops on construction of set, props and costume; technical staff, and marketing support.

In return companies will be asked to modify their production, technical and performance schedules to allow room for training opportunities for Lir students. A split of any box office takings will also be agreed to cover front of house, ticketing and other expenses.

In order to be considered for the initiative, those interested must be industry professionals such as a director, designer, actor, production personnel with appropriate experience in the field, have appropriate funding or other resources in place, and have the necessary flexibility in terms of production dates.

The Lir, Ireland's newest stage and theatre technician programme, launches its year-long programme this September, which aims to teach students all aspects of production work, from set building, to prop management to lighting.

The programme is already full, with The Lir announcing a string of summer short courses, starting from July 16.

If you have an idea that you want to see come to life as part of The Lir's new initiative, while at the same time giving budding stage and technician students the opportunity to engage in a real-life production, send in your proposal to info@thelir.ie by 5.30pm Monday, July 30. A final decision on the successful candidate will be made in August.

For more details and contact details for The Lir see their profile on IFTN. For more information on The Lir's summer short courses see the IFTN Training page.
