TG4 To Air Doc on Irish Tennis Player Convicted of Murder
26 Jun 2012 : By Eva Hall

Dublin-based Square One Productions’ docudrama ‘Dhá Chúirt’ will air on TG4 tomorrow, (June 27) at 9.55pm.

The docudrama tells the story of Thomas Vere St. Leger Goold, the Irish tennis player whose Wimbledon status was long forgotten after he and his wife were convicted of murder in 1908.

Cathal Watters (Glaoch ón Triú Reich) directed, while Shane Tobin of Square One produced. Áine Furlong (Muide Éire) was the offline editor, while Rory Gavin at Reelgood Studios looked after the online editing. Denis Clohessy (An Treaty 1921) composed music and Barry Reid of Gorilla Post Production mixed the sound. Rachel Lysaght was the line producer.

Producer Shane Tobin said: “Vere Goold is one of the most interesting characters of Irish sporting history and his life is full of dramatic ups and downs. We think [the documentary] is a great accompaniment to the excellent TG4 Wimbledon coverage and we did justice to that amazing story, on and off the court, with our great crew who worked on it.”

‘Dhá Chúirt’ was shot on location in Dublin, London, Downpatrick, Wicklow and Kildare, and was filmed on RED ONE at 4K with RED prime lens. Watters also served as director of photography on the project.

‘Dhá Chúirt’ will air on TG4 on Wednesday, June 27 at 9.55pm. See IFTN’s TV Highlights for all Irish productions airing this week.
