RTÉ has teamed up with video management software and services company Kit Digital to bring its on-demand RTÉ Player to smart TVs.
Samsung, a development partner of Kit Digital, will be the first TV brand to offer the RTÉ Player on its connected TV sets.
The RTÉ Player app for Samsung will enable viewers to access RTÉ programming whenever they want, directly on the biggest screen in their home.
The Irish broadcaster has decided to work with KIT digital to develop compatible versions of the on-demand player on smart TVs following the successful launch of the RTÉ Player iOS app last December.
As of June 3, Kit Digital said the RTÉ Player app has been downloaded 324,000 times.
