RTÉ Seeking Aspiring Musicians for New Reality Series ‘Instrumental’
31 May 2012 :
RTÉ is offering three members of the public the chance to perform on stage with the RTÉ Concert Orchestra as part of its new television series ‘Instrumental’.

Three candidates will become students of the Concert Orchestra over a number of months and will learn to perfect a musical instrument and face a number of musical challenges along the way.

David Brophy, the principal conductor of the Orchestra, will accompany the students on their journey, which will eventually lead to a solo performance with the critically acclaimed Orchestra.

Adare Productions will produce the series for RTÉ, with filming scheduled to commence in June. Filming will take place all over Ireland.

RTÉ is calling on aspiring musicians to take part by logging on to RTÉ’s by Sunday June 10.

For a taster of what’s to come in ‘Instrumental’, the RTÉ Concert Orchestra will be on hand for the opening night gala of the John Ford Ireland Film Symposium, when it will accompany renowned composer Christopher Caliendo for the screening of ‘The Iron Horse’ at the National Concert Hall on Thursday June 7. IFTA members are entitled to a concession rate of €15.
