RTÉ has added to its commissioning briefs with a call for daytime and lifestyle programmes for 2013.
The broadcaster is offering up to €90,000 in funding for programmes which could potentially replace ‘Room to Improve’, the home renovation show which will air on RTÉ’s lifestyle post watershed hour-long slot in 2012. ‘Room to Improve’ is a COCO Television production, and first aired on RTÉ One in 2007 with architect Dermot Bannon presenting.
RTÉ has stated proposals for a 2013 slot should preferably be homegrown ideas, rather than international formats. The selected programme should appeal to a younger demographic yet a broad audience.
Programmes will need to be ambitious, compelling and capable of holding an audience for 52 minutes. Programmes with real public service values, new talent and real experts with genuine passion are sought for a six-part series.
The deadline for submissions is Friday, June 8. Applicants must submit proposals through RTÉ’s eCommissioning system under the category ‘Daytime & Lifestyle – Sunday Post Watershed’. Grainne McAleer is the commissioning editor with Sean MacGiolla Phadraig her assistant commissioning editor.
