Films Distribution has acquired the international rights to Ciaran Foy’s debut feature about an agoraphobic father trying to save his daughter from a group of feral children.
Films Distribution’s founder Nicolas Brigaud-Robert said: “We are always cautious at Films Distribution with our genre movie pick-ups but this was an immediate ‘go’ for us.”
The feature was co-produced by Katie Holly of Dublin-based Blinder Films and Brian Coffey of Sigma Films in Glasgow. Gillian Berrie, Kieron J. Walsh and David Mackenzie all executive produced.
Aneurin Barnard (We'll Take Manhattan), James Cosmo (Braveheart) and Wunmi Mosuka (I am Slave) all star in the psychological horror, which picked up the Midnighter Audience Award at the SXSW Film festival earlier this year.
In a joint statement, both Holly and Coffey said they were “delighted to be working with Films Distribution. Given their slate of award-winning innovative features we feel they are perfectly placed to handle ‘Citadel’.”
Films Distribution’s previous deliveries include Oscar nominated films ‘A Cat in Paris’ and ‘Monsieur Lazhar’, which was released in Irish cinemas last week.
In the US, Cinedigm will begin distributing ‘Citadel’ in cinemas this autumn. New Video will release DVD copies of the feature early next year.
