Irish supernatural short ‘Gallow Hill House’ will begin production on location in Termonfeckin, Co Louth, next week.
The production has been funded through public funding website Fund it. Writer Jonathan Hazlett told IFTN the crew surpassed their €1,500 aim by receiving a total of €1,600 in just two weeks.
‘Gallow Hill House’ is a horror-thriller which follows six people on a ‘Cabin in the Woods’-style trip as they engage in some ghost story-telling. They soon realise there’s a physical entity within the house, and supernatural events begin to unfold.
The shoot is expected to last five days in Termonfeckin with the short running for 16 minutes. Gavin Cleland (Porcelain) is directing, and writing duo Jonathan Hazlett and Sean Vickers will co-produce. Alec Moor (We’ve Got Balls) will take on the director of photography role, while Cleland will also edit the short in post-production.
The cast consists of ‘Runner’ actor Tristan Heanue who will play lead character Trevor, and Paul Butler Lennox (The Tudors/Sin é) who will play Sam.
Shane Lennon, Angela Heaney, Nichola MacEvilly (Runner) and Matthew Toman (The Railway Children) make up the rest of the line up.
Completing the crew is Gemma Horan who will provide the make-up for the shoot, and Alan Peter, formerly of Irish rock band Woodstar, who has composed an original score especially for the short.
Producer Hazlett has praised the cast and crew as a “fantastic group of people” who “showed faith in the script”. He told IFTN they hope to submit the short to the festival circuit upon completion of post-production at the end of June.
