BAI Launches Community Broadcasting Support Scheme 2012
10 Apr 2012 : By Eva Hall
The Broadcasting Authority of Ireland (BAI) has launched its Community Broadcasting Support Scheme 2012. The scheme is open to licensed community and community of interest television and radio stations, with the aim to provide funding grants which allow broadcasters the facilities to evaluate and assess the effectiveness of their service.

The scheme will fund evaluations which address internal issues, such as supporting stations with organisational development issues, and external issues, such as helping community broadcasters take a closer look at the communities in which they serve.

The scheme is run through the BAI’s Sectoral Learning and Development function which launched last week, as reported on IFTN. This policy outlined a framework by which the BAI can engage with broadcasters to ensure their learning and development needs are being met.

A budget of €36,000 has been set for the scheme this year.

The application deadline for the funding scheme has been announced as 18 May 2012. To access an application form visit www.bai.ie.
