Irish director Paul Cotrulia’s debut feature film ‘Modified’ will be released in Ireland and the UK in September.
Financed and shot in the UK, the science-fiction thriller film will be released on DVD and VOD in Ireland and screened in selected UK cinemas from September 3.
The feature was written by Dublin screenwriter Kevin J. Hannigan and boasts a strong Irish crew that included Cork’s Fintan Kearney as first assistant director and Dubliner Eugene Suschcyy as special effects make-up artist.
Alongside, Navan man Cotrulia, all four filmmakers are graduates of the National Film School at IADT in Dun Laoghaire, Co Dublin.
Shot in London and set in the future, ‘Modified’ is set in an underground world of body modification with technology. The film’s cast includes John Sandeman, Robert Dawson, and Cory Sanders.
It was produced by Cotrulia and Hannah Armstrong for Event Films, who will also distribute the low-budget feature.
Of the Irish crew used, Cotrulia said: “I think we've got some of the most imaginative and talented filmmakers in Ireland. Irish filmmakers are world class. I was very happy to crew ‘Modified’ with some of the best IADT graduates.”
Hannah Armstriong added: “The Irish crew worked very well with the more experienced British crew. I hope Event Films Limited can support more Irish filmmakers in the coming years.”
Cotrulia is currently prepping his second, larger budget feature film ‘Infinite’, also for Event Films.
