On St Patrick’s Day 2012 RTÉ Television will broadcast its first ever user-generated documentary ‘How to Be Irish’.
The programme will be made entirely of clips sent in by viewers talking about, or otherwise illustrating, what being Irish means to them.
RTÉ Television launched its call in February for people across Ireland and worldwide to tell the nation #HowToBeIrish and possibly feature in this unique television programme. The call-out was also led by RTÉ 2fm’s Rick O’Shea on his ‘Rick in the Afternoon’ programme.
The public were asked to think about the feelings, images, thoughts, songs, jokes or special moments which they feel best sum up being Irish and use their cameras, camcorders, webcams or mobile phones to capture their version of #HowToBeIrish.
RTÉ have selected the funniest, most touching, awe-inspiring and strange responses for the television programme which will be broadcast on RTÉ One and on RTÉ.ie on St Patrick’s Day 2012. And they will share the best of the rest with RTÉ.ie visitors.
