Gillian Anderson (Shadow Dancer, The X-Files) has confirmed that she will be joining as the lead role in Allan Cubitt’s new 5x60 minute series for BBC Two ‘The Fall’ which is to shoot in Northern Ireland.
‘The Fall’ is psychological thriller that follows the lives of two hunters. One is a serial killer who stalks his victims at random in and around Belfast and the other is a talented female Detective Superintendent DSI Gibson from the MET played by Anderson who is brought in to catch him.
The series was written by Allan Cubitt (The Runaway, Murphy’s Law) and will be produced by Artists Studio. The series executive producer will be Stephen Wright through BBC Northern Ireland. The series is being funded by from Northern Ireland Screen supported by Invest NI and part funded by the European Regional Development Fund. The series is due to start shooting next month in Belfast.
