The Screen Directors Guild of Ireland has launched its 2012 events programme stating that it intends to partner with the Annecy International Animation Film Festival in France the St. Patrick’s Festival in Berlin, in addition to its involvement in the Directors Finders Series.
This year’s Annecy International Animation Film Festival will spotlight Irish animation with Irish animated features, short films and TV programs screened at the festival’s annual market in June. The St. Patrick’s Festival in Berlin will also include on its programme some contemporary Irish films as part of its March programme.
In September in an attempt to gain US distribution deals Irish feature directors will get the opportunity to screen their films to key American film industry representatives in the DGA Theatre, Sunset Boulevard in LA at the annual Directors Finders Series run by the Directors Guild of America.
The programme also includes exclusive screenings and masterclasses by Irish film and TV directors like Ciaran Donnelly (Titanic; Blood and Steel, Camelot), Lenny Abrahansom (What Richard Did, Garage), Kirsten Sheridan (Dollhouse, August Rush), Jason Tammemägi (Punky, Fluffy Gardens) and Kevin Godley (U2: The Best of 1990-2000, The Best of Blur)
Ciaran Donnelly, Chairman said, “We are delighted to be launching an exciting programme of events for 2012 that present an opportunity for audiences and fellow directors to engage with directors and their work in a meaningful way.”
