RTÉ & Filmbase Launch ‘Doc on the Box’
25 Jan 2012 : By Ciara Drohan
As part of RTÉ’s TV50 celebrations the broadcaster’s TV documentary unit has teamed up with Filmbase to launch the ‘Doc on the Box’ initiative, which aims to encourage fresh directorial talent to come forward for the opportunity to have their 25 minute original video documentary aired on a RTÉ prime-time slot.

The competition is open to anyone over 18 and offers the winner a single three-month contract to produce, direct and deliver a documentary about Ireland and their generation’s place in it. The documentary must be aimed at a twenty-something audience and the winning entry will have to display a sense of directorial vision. The entrant will also have to have DV or other camera experience, as well as an understanding of video production. The production process will be mentored by an RTÉ executive producer.

As part of the initiative Filmbase are running an information morning at their headquarters in Curved St. Temple Bar, Dublin 2 on Saturday February 4th from 10am-1pm. To book a place at the information morning email clare@filmbase.ie
