Frank O'Farrell at Old Trafford
Irish production company Zoogon’s latest documentary ‘Frank O Farrell; The Shadow of Busby’ will air on RTÉ One on the 29th of December at 10.25pm.

The documentary tells the story of how forty years ago a Cork man took on the daunting task of taking over from Sir Matt Busby to manage Manchester United. It includes contributions from O'Farrell, his first television interview in almost four decades, and finds out he went from humble upbringing in Cork to club management.

There are also contributions from David Meek, Peter Shilton and former Manchester United Coach Wilf McGuinness, and Sir Matt Busby author Eamon Dunphy. It was filmed over the course of a number of months in 2010 and 2011 with Frank in his home of Torquay in the South Coast of England to Old Trafford where he hadn’t returned since his sacking in 1972 and the Aviva stadium in Ireland.

The programme was produced by Sean Doyle (Hello Baby Bye Bye Body, Ceol an Ghrá) and directed by Paul Golding. Executive producer from Zoogon was Siobhan Ni Ghadra (Zombie Hotel, Skunk Fu!) and Paula Fahy for RTÉ. Offline edit was done by Allistair Maynes (The All Ireland Talent Show, Colm & Jim Jim's Home Run) and online and sound mix was completed at Telegael.

The documentary was funded by RTÉ Sport and part funded by the Broadcast Authority of Ireland's Sound & Vision fund. It airs on RTÉ One on 29th December 2011.
