IFTA award-winning ‘Big City Park’, a co-production between Belfast based Sixteen South and CBeebies Scotland, was honoured last night at the Scottish BAFTAs taking home the award for Best Children’s Programme.
The show, which premiered on CBeebies in August 2010, is a children’s show filmed on location in Belfast’s Ormeau Park which encourages children to go outside and rediscover the awe and wonder of nature. ‘Big City Park’ combines live action, puppets and original songs to entertain and educate young viewers.
‘Big City Park’ was created, developed and written by Sixteen South in collaboration with CBeebies Scotland. Colin Williams, Creative Director for Sixteen South and Big City Park’s Executive Producer said, “We’re absolutely thrilled to win a BAFTA for Big City Park. It is a huge accolade for us as programme makers. Big City Park is a result of wonderful local talent and creativity, both in front of and behind the camera, blended with the experience and insight of our colleagues at CBeebies Scotland. Sixteen South is proudly Belfast born and bred, and it’s also a wonderful tribute to our own city’s ‘great outdoors”
Funding for 'Big City Park' was provided by Northern Ireland Screen and CBeebies.
