The IFTA award-winning ‘Deep End Dance’ is to compete, along with 23 other shorts, as part of the Audience Prize competition at the Idill Film Festival, Belgium.
‘Deep End Dance’ tells the story of a young man pushed into a swimming pool by his mother, who then joins him for a dance underwater which describes the story of their relationship with each other. The film was funded by The Arts Council and RTÉ as part of the RTÉ ‘Dance of the Box’ scheme.
The short was directed by Conor Horgan (The Beholder, Croke Park Lives) and choreographed by David Bolger (Deep End Dance, Dancing at Lughnasa). It was produced by Martha O'Neill (An Crisis, The Beholder) of Wildfire Films and stars performed by David Bolger and his mother Madge.
