'The Pervert’s Guide to Ideology' Wraps Production at Ardmore Studios
17 Oct 2011 :
Slavoj Zizek in The Pervert's Guide to Ideology
The Blinder Films/P Guide Productions feature documentary ‘The Pervert’s Guide to Ideology’ has wrapped, following filming in Ireland’s Ardmore Studios. Directed by Sophie Fiennes (Over Your Cities Grass Will Grow), ‘The Pervert’s Guide to Ideology’ is a joint collaboration with philosopher Slavoj Zizek, following on from their previous 2006 documentary ‘The Pervert’s Guide to Cinema’.

In their previous collaboration, Fiennes and Zizek explored how in movies we encounter the traumas we cannot confront in reality. In ‘The Pervert’s Guide to Ideology’ they will show us what psychoanalysis can tell us about ideology, by using their inventive interpretation of cinema to examine the mechanisms that shape our beliefs and practices.

Filming took place between July and September in locations including Ireland’s Ardmore Studios, Salzburg, Austria and California. Director of Photography is Remko Schnorr (Over Your Cities Grass Will Grow) and it was filmed on the ARRI ALEXA.

Producers on the feature documentary are Katie Holly (One Hundred Mornings) for Irish production company Blinder Films, Martin Rosenbaum (Searching for the Wrong-Eyed Jesus), James Wilson (Attack the Block) and Sophie Fiennes. Executive producers are Shani Hilton, Katherine Butler for Film4, Tabitha Jackson for Channel 4 and Michael Sackler and Julia Godzinskaya for Rooks Nest Entertainment.

The feature documentary will now go into picture post in EMC Ltd in Dun Laoghaire, with sound post being completed at Ardmore Sound. It received funding from the Irish Film Board, BFI Film Fund, Film4, Channel 4, IFB, Rooks Nest Entertainment and UK Film Council.
