Irish producers Telegael are teaming up with UK-based Formula Fun Entertainment (FFE) and DQ Entertainment in India to produce new CGI animated pre-school series ‘Franco and Formula Fun’.
Created by Marina Nicholas of FFE, ‘Franco and Formula Fun’ sees six-year old Franco playing with his toy racing cars, which come to life in a CGI racing world of fun. Each episode follows the adventures of Franco and his ten superpower car friends as they travel to thirteen countries around the world seeking fantastical adventure both on an off the racetrack. ‘Franco and Formula Fun’ is written by Mark Valenti, illustrated by Jim Bamber and produced by Sigvaldi J Karason.
Pre-production on the 52x11 minute series will be overseen by FFE and Telegael, with animation taking place at DQ’s studios in India. Post-production will take place at Telegael in Ireland and the series will be available for broadcast in early 2013.
‘Franco and Formula Fun’ won the 2009 MIP junior Licensing award and has already pre-sold to 28 countries worldwide including TV2 (Norway), MTV OY (Finland), Al Jazeera Children’s Channel (Middle East), Hop! TV (Israel) and CH2 (Iceland).
Paul Cummins, CEO of Telegael, said “Telegael is delighted to partner with FFE and DQ Entertainment to bring this award-winning property to a worldwide children’s audience. The combination of compelling characters, exciting storylines and colourful locations sets the tone for a series that will wow children the world over.”
