The Weinstein Company have acquired North American rights to Irish/Italian/French co-production ‘This Must Be The Place’. Starring Sean Penn (Milk), Frances McDormand (Fargo) and musician David Byrne alongside Irish talent Simon Delaney (Zonad, Happy Ever Afters), Olwen Fouere (Space Truckers) and Eve Hewson, it tells the story of an aging rock star living in Dublin, who embarks on a quest to find his father’s Nazi persecutor.
The feature, which filmed in Dublin in 2010, is Italian director Paolo Sorrentino’s English language feature debut, which he co-wrote with Umberto Contarello. Ed Guiney and Andrew Lowe (The Guard) are the Irish producers for Element Pictures. The feature was funded by the Irish Film Board, Eurimages, Medusa, Indigo Film, Intesa Sanpaolo Bank and ARP Selection France.
The feature premiered at Cannes in May and Element Pictures Distribution have secured the Irish rights to the film. The Weinstein Co. have yet to indicate a North American release date for the feature.
