Jason O’Mahony has been appointed as the new Cork Film Commissioner.
Previously the director of the Kerry Film Festival, O’Mahony said of his appointment, "I'm absolutely delighted to begin working with the Cork Screen Commission and thrilled to see that the Commission is already being used by so many people. Cork Screen Commission is a new entity and won't officially launch until early November, so to be involved with so many films so early in our existence is a real thrill for us. We would encourage all producers and filmmakers thinking of filming in Cork to get in touch. In fact if you're thinking of shooting anything anywhere, get in touch, we just might be able to help out!"
Launched earlier this year by the Lord Mayor of Cork Jim Daly, the Commission is managed through the Cork Film Centre, funded by Cork County and City Councils, and based in Ballincollig in the Gunpowder Mills. The Cork Screen Commission helps film and television producers find, secure and make the best use of Cork's many locations.
It also houses an extensive database of Cork-based film professionals, including cast and crew; film services and film production companies.
