Magma Productions’ ‘Jack Taylor’ is back on TV3 with the first episode airing Thursday September 1st. Directed by Stuart Orme (Merlin), the 4x45 minute series follows private Investigator Jack Taylor (Iain Glen) and his enthusiastic sidekick, Cody (Killian Scott).
Written by Marteinn Thorisson (Niko and the Way to the Stars) and based on Ken Bruen Novels ‘The Magdalene Martyrs’ and ‘The Dramatist’, the series follows Jack as he returns to Galway, clean and sober, and resolves to stay away from violence. But he is drawn back in when a dead man’s mother approaches him seeking help. During the course of his investigation, Jack uncovers a group of vigilantes calling themselves The Pikemen, after old Irish Freedom Fighters. The Pikemen want Galway to be the way it used to be - a safe city governed by The Twelve Tribes, who dealt out justice to anyone who overstepped their mark. Realising that Jack is close to cracking the case, they invite Jack to join him.
‘Jack Taylor: The Pikeman Murders’ is produced by Clodagh Freeman and Ralph Christians. The four instalments of the show were filmed in Ireland, with studio work being filmed in Bremen Germany. Director Of Photography on the production is John Conroy (Weekender, Silent Witness). Cast include Iain Glen (Resident Evil), Killian Scott (Love/Hate) and Nora-Jane Noone (The Magdalene Sisters).
The series has a budget of approximately €1.5million per episode and was edited by Helen Chapman (Single Handed, Summerhill). Post Production was carried out in Das Werk in Germany.
