The Irish Film and Television Academy has announced that Hollywood screenwriter Gill Dennis will be giving a Masterclass for Screenwriters and one-on-one individual consultations as part of this year’s Screenwriter-in-Residence programme, in association with IFTA, at the 2011 Galway Film Fleadh.
Gill Dennis is currently the Master Filmmaker in Residence at the American Film Institute and has mentored a new generation of filmmakers there, including Jonathan Levine (The Wackness), Jacob Estes (Mean Creek) and Goran Dukic (Wristcutters).
Dennis’ key writing credits include the Oscar nominated ‘Walk the Line’, ‘Riders of the Puprle Sage’, ‘On My Own’ and the Oscar nominated ‘Return to Oz’. He has also worked on scripts such as ‘Apocalypse Now’, ‘Pollock’ and ‘The Black Stallion’.
Gill Dennis will give insight into his collaborating and rewriting skills at the Screenwriters Masterclass whilst also focusing on how stories are found, discussed and structured.
In addition, three Members of the Irish Film & Television Academy (IFTA) will be selected to have one to one consultations with Gill Denis, which will take place between the 7th-9th July at the Radisson Hotel and will also attend the Screenwriters Masterclass free of charge.
