Saturday, April 30th saw Oscar nominee Peter O’Toole joined by friends and family as he had his hands and feet enshrined in the in the foyer of the Grauman’s Chinese Theatre in Hollywood. O’Toole was joined by other Irish and international stars on the day including Rose McGowan (The Black Dahlia), Angelica Huston (The Dead), Richard Benjamin (Deconstructing Harry) amongst many others.

The other actors present to see Peter O’Toole make his mark on the Hollywood Walk of Fame included Paula Prentiss (The Stepford Wives); Barbara Hershey (Black Swan); Illeana Douglas (Goodfellas); producer Allegra Huston (Good Luck, Mr Gorski) alongside daughter Kate and son Lorcan and hundreds of fans.

The actor’s Hand and Footprint Ceremony at Grauman's Chinese Theatre was held as part of the 2011 TCM Classic Film Festival with actor, film historian and TCM host, Robert Osborne introducing O’Toole. Peter O’Toole was invited to leave his hand and footprints on the Walk of Fame in honour of his long film career. The actor has received over 8 Oscar nominations over his career and was awarded an honourary award in 2003 for his work. His award winning and Oscar nominated parts have included lead roles in ‘My Favourite Year’ in 1982; ‘The Stunt Man’ in 1980; ‘The Ruling Class’ in 1972; ‘Goodbye Mr Chips’ in 1969; ‘The Lion in Winter’ in 1968; ‘Becket’ in 1964 and ‘Lawrence of Arabia’, the part for which he is best known.

He recently received a BAFTA nomination in 2006 for his lead role in ‘Venus’. He received two previous BAFTA nominations for ‘The Last Emperor’ in 1987 and ‘Becket’ in 1964 and won a BAFTA award in 1962 for ‘Lawrence of Arabia’. He has claimed severl Golden Globe nominations over the years and won statuaettes for ‘Goodbye Mr Chips’, ‘The Lion in Winter’ and ‘Becket’. He also won an Emmy in 199 for ‘Joan of Arc’. Closer to his native land, O’Toole won IFTA awards for both his role in ‘The Tudors’ and ‘Troy’ and was nominated for his supporting role in ‘Dean Spanley’.

In leaving his hand, footprints and autograph on the walk of fame, O’Toole joins over 200 other Hollywood celebrities who have left their mark in the concrete of the theater's forecourt including Groucho Marx, Betty Grable, John Wayne and Bob Hope. Over 9 million people visit the marks left by the stars outside the Chinese theatre annually.
